Introducing Giclee Prints!

Following my first collection of original paintings, I wanted to find a way to share some of my favorite pieces with you in a new way -  Fine Art Prints! THe full collection will launch this friday, july 31st!

For this first series, I’ve carefully curated a selection of my work from over the years. Many of these pieces represent a pivotal moment in my practice, and often I become too attached to the original to ever part with it. Even though I selfishly hang on to these pieces, I wanted to find a way to share them with you. I like to think of this release as  the ‘best of’ or 'Disney Vault’ of E. Lamb studio.

Each piece has been reproduced using archival inks and museum quality paper, capturing all the vivid details of the originals.  I’m offering each as a limited edition, helping to share the magic of the original piece, while also preserving its integrity.

Here’s a little sneak peak of what you’ll find in the shop this Friday:

Crocodiles

Does this look familiar to anyone? I’ve gotten lots of inquiries about this piece over the years, but I just can’t let it go.

Crocodiles began as I created a collection of designs based around one of my favorite childhood stories, Peter Pan. This tale, and its many retellings through stage and animation lights up so many of my childhood memories, but more importantly it's one of those stories that seems to write itself into your own story. My Grandfather, a much loved figure in my life, often watched Peter Pan with my sister and me. He always laughed that he was Peter, and didn’t want to grow up either. Side note, I’ve always felt like the “scary” Crocodile got the short end of the stick in this one, and wanted a chance to capture him in a lively, fun way.

The original piece is Gouache paint and pencil on slightly textured paper. I love the unexpected color pairings, with bold pops of red and orange. Once I completed this painting, I scanned it into my computer to create a repeating pattern printed and had it digitally printed  on heavy linen fabric. As I work on my first collection of textiles, I’ve pulled this piece out many times to reference as I work on new designs. It could be fun to pull this one into the mix again? What do you think?

Night Lights

Do you ever look at something you made, and think, how did you do that? Well this is that piece for me. I’ve been asked about Night Lights over the years, but I’ve always wanted to hold onto this one. The original hangs in my Dad’s home, although I swear I only loaned it to him all those years ago!

Night Lights is special to me because it represents a light-bulb moment  in exploring the meaning behind light and the importance of certain ‘magical’ places in literature. I still go back to this moment in my work, carving out  a clearing in the trees, with light from the moon  filtering through the leaves. I created this piece with ink and gouache paint on paper. My favorite part is the detail in the bark of the trees.

Lucy

To know Lucy is to love Lucy. Lucy is an ink portrait of my adorable, yet sometimes scary cat.  I’m lucky that the original was purchased by a family member, so I can visit it from time to time (the living, breathing Lucy is alive and well to be clear). I love that this piece feels like a serious portrait in some ways, yet captures the spontaneity of watercolor and ink and the hilarity I see in Lucy’s face when I *accidentally* lock eyes with her (never look a cat in the eyes). Indigo watercolor and feline subject matter - is there a better combo?

See you back here Friday for the full Collection Launch!
