The making of Going Coastal

Get a peek at my latest Collection of paintings available with The Scouted Studio on February 23rd

In January I started thinking about my next collection with The Scouted Studio. With The Scouted Studio based in Charleston I knew I wanted to explore some of my coastal subjects in this collection. While it was still gray and cold, I couldn’t help but dream of heading to warmer places. I started painting, imagining the birds migrating south and looking for a warm place to vacation. I realized as I was completing one of my first paintings that I was referring to them as The Fuddy Duddies. Sometimes something just pops into your head! These Fuddy Duddies were heading south to warmer lands and exploring the new landscape. Follow along as the Fuddies explore the Lowcountry…

This collection has about 10 paintings ( maybe more!) all using a palette of soft blues and washed greens. Capturing the movement of the sea, gold pigment and inks blend to create abstracted feathers and sea creatures. The collection is an assortment of smaller sizes paintings - from 8x 10 inches to 20 x 16 inches all on gallery wrapped canvas.

The Fuddy Duddies hanging out in the studio with a few of the color tests as I work out the shades of blues and greens to use in this piece.

The collection isn’t entirely made of birds, you’ll also find a few other treasures by the water, including a collection of oyster shells and a few Blue Crabs.

The collection will be available exclusively through The Scouted Studio’s website on February 23rd. See you there!
