FRAMING 101 | A FEW TIPS AND TRICKS
So you bought yourself a work of art on paper…now what?! Framing can often feel a little daunting, there are so many choices and it can feel like quite the investment. I wanted to share some fun, affordable framing choices I made for a recent show using Framebridge ( this post isn’t sponsored by the way!) I love their range of frames - from modern and playful to traditional and elegant.
Choosing a frame for a piece of art often feels like picking out the perfect accessory for an outfit, it brings everything together in just the right way. Keep scrolling for more framing ideas and tips to recreate these looks for your own home…
1 : Bold and the beautiful
The first thing I’ve learned about framing is to trust your gut. A pop of color or accent frame can really make a piece of work stand out. I’m kind of obsessed with all of the colorful glazed frames offered at Framebridge. From rich, mustardy yellows to bold pops of red and pink they add the perfect playful touch to a piece. I love imagining an eclectic gallery wall full of color and texture.

2: Choosing a mat
Often times choosing a mat color and style can feel like an after thought. My go-to is a creamy linen texture. The linen texture adds a layered look, elevating the artwork.
Depending on the piece of art I typically prefer to float mount my art. You know how works on paper often have a torn/textured edge? You’ll want to show that unique detail off by allowing the art to sit on top of the mat board you have chosen.
3: Gold standard
You can’t go wrong with a classic, antiqued frame. A delicate drawing takes on an air of importance with a little glitz and glam and is well on its way to becoming an instant heirloom.
Two of my favorites are Georgetown with its classic fluted edges ,and Richmond for its understated elegance. Pair these frames with that creamy, linen mat and you have the definition of quiet luxury :)
